Saka Mohammed Jimoh is an holder of MB; BS, MPH, MBA, Ph.D, Dip. In Law, Diploma in Health System, Cert. in Health Economics, and Fellow of National Postgraduate Medical College in Public Health. Saka Mohammed Jimoh is a Professor of Public Health and International public health specialist with over 25 years’ experience in public health practice and health system management. Having acquired a solid academic, research-oriented training and programme implementation lead. His practice of Public Health is focused and result-oriented. He was a member of National medical Team and Team lead on Surveillance and Health Education at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during Hajji 2024. M.J Saka is a Director of Laboratory to Product (LAB-TOP) and National Intellectual Property Technology Transfer Officer (NIPTTO) from 2023 till date. M.J Saka was member of Presidential Task Force on COVID 19 (Research Pillar) and a Team Lead on a Special Presidential Task Force Advocacy Team to Nasarawa and Plateau State in Nigeria on Ramping Up of COVID 19 testing, research, supportive supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation 2019 to 2020. MJ Saka was a member of think thanks and technical support to the Minster of Health in Nigeria 2006 to 2011. He was also a Technical Manager and Technical support to Senate Committee on Health on Health related Bill. Project sponsored by DFID (UK government) through Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria (HERFON). M.J was PG Field Posting Coordinator for Department of Epidemiology & Community Health (2012 to 2020), PG coordinator for Department of Epidemiology & Community Health from 2020 till 2023. He was the Pioneer Head of Department of Community Medicine, First Indigenous Dean Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Nile University of Nigeria and Former Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences Al-Hikmah University Ilorin. Prof M.J Saka background in public health practice had enabled him to view health from a human angle and prepared him for the challenges of managing community health interventions as a humanitarian activity and not focusing just on figures and statistics. As a former National Programme Manager/Team Leader for many health projects and programmes
Saka M.J had lived in and had professional stints in more than 30 states of Nigeria across all the geopolitical regions. This had allowed him to understand the multi-cultural nature of various Nigerian communities and peculiarities of the people in many parts of the country. His humble background and disposition had enabled him to communicate and work effectively with all people with excellent results. Prof M.J Saka had a good sense of humour which had helped him in no small way to coexist effectively with people he worked with. He Successfully managed Malaria project on performance base funded by World Bank, he was the National Programe Manager for Nigeria Inter Faith Action Association (NIFAA) owned by National Interreligious Council. Managed (NIFAA-Global Fund funded project on LLIN replacement campaign and He was a Director of Malaria project on advocacy, BCC for NIFAA-HC3/MSH a USAID funded project. Prof Saka M.J was a consultant for IntraHealth International, CapacityPlus, Population Council, UNICEF, FMoH and Policy Consultant for State Peer Review Mechanism (SPRM) for Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
M.J Saka reviewed and developed strategy implementation policy on Human Resource for Health, National Strategy Health Development Plan (NSHDP), and Mid-Term review of NSHDP and joint annual review plan of NSHDP. Prof M.J Saka Managed USAID funded project on Improved Reproductive Health in Nigeria (IRHIN) in collaboration with Pathfinder International, SFH and PSI. He was responsible for the overall planning, implementation and management of the program and ensuring the programm’s administrative and financial integrity. M.J Saka facilitated proposal development for all sub grantees, ICB & Organization development, Quality of service delivery, MIS, Project management, supervisory skills, project modification amendment (PMA) and reports writing for professional’s bodies and faith-based organizations across the country. Prof M.J Saka worked in collaboration with ENHANSE, SFH and GHAIN USAID project on; on advocacy, policy, media and communication, BCC, NARS and BSS), media and material development. Successfully managed array of health reform and Health System programs in Nigeria both at National and State levels, this include but not limited to Governance and Advocacy output of Partnership for Reviving Routine Immunization in Northern Nigeria-Northern Nigeria Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Program (PRRINN-MNCH) DfID project, Coordinating Manager Capacity of Supporting National Malaria Control Programme (SuNMap) Malaria Consortium DfiD project, Project Management Consultant to Global Fund Nigeria Malaria project, Yakub Gowon Center(R4&R8),.Provision of mobile health care services for Nigeria in Plateau State, technical support to FMoH, SMoH, National Assembly, National Health Conference, policy analysis and development, Nigeria Health Review, strategic & proposal development, health system research, Know How Fund (KHF) for HERFON members and monitoring and evaluation unit of the organization. Co –coordinated the development of strategic plan on establishment of policy unit for FMoH. Co-coordinated and facilitated plenary session on 51st National Council On Health NCH meeting this was in collaboration with DFID PATH team, Facilitated and support development of strategic plan for Health Summit in Rivers State and Development of sustainable strategic plan for Adamawa State. Developed Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan for many States in Nigeria. Coordinated and managed as (Team Leader) a research project on Evaluation of Free Maternal Health Care in Nigeria with support from Oxfam GB, coordinated National research with expert review on PHC 30 years After Alma Atta, Coordinated National research review on Non-Communicable Disease in Nigeria. Managed and coordinated Know How fund research with support from DFID. Successfully managed Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) Project on Improving Nutrition and Access to Quality Maternal and Child Health Service in Six communities in Nigeria in Calabar Cross River State and FCT Abuja. Consultant to NPHCDA on Midwives Service Scheme (MSS) for South West Nigeria. National Project Manager (NPM) for World Bank, Global Fund, and HC3 on Malaria SBCC project for Inter Faith Community in Nigeria. Saka had worked in collaboration with many development organizations INGOs, Foundations, Ministries, FMOH, SMOHs, LGAs and Multilateral organizations e.g AIOPD/NIOPD, Oxfam, PRRINN- MNCH, SuNMaP, USAID, UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO and DFID etc all changing lives and saving lives. M.J Saka published more than ninety articles in both international and local journals and contributors of chapters in books on primary health care and non-communicable diseases in Nigeria edited Akinkugbe and Adetokunbo LUCAS. M.J Saka attracted many National and International grant to the Country and University of Ilorin Community. He Published a Text Book on Public Health Law and International Health Regulations.
